Products Description

wire mesh demister is also known as mist eliminator, mist, catching mist is a kind of vapor liquid separating device. Always used to separate liquid drop with diameter of more than 3um-4um.

Wire mesh demister can not only filter bigger liquid foam suspended in the air, can also filter out small and tiny liquid foam. It is widely used in the Gas-liquid separation device of chemical, petroleum, tower manufacturing, pressure vessel and other industries.

Working Principle

When the gas laden with liquid droplets passes through the wire mesh demister, the droplets, due to their inertia, collide with the surface of the wire mesh filaments. They then adhere to the filament surface. Through processes such as diffusion and gravitationa

l settlement on the filament surface, the droplets coalesce and grow larger. As the weight of the aggregated droplets exceeds the resultant force of the gas upward force and the liquid surface tension, the droplets separate from the wire mesh and fall downward.

Characteristics

  • High Separation Efficiency: It can achieve a high collection efficiency, usually up to 98% - 99.8% for droplets with a diameter of 3 - 5μm.
  • Low Pressure Drop: The pressure drop of the gas passing through the wire mesh demister is very small, generally only 250 - 500Pa, which is beneficial to improving the production efficiency of the equipment.
  • Simple Structure and Light Weight: It usually consists of a wire mesh pad and a supporting device, featuring a simple structure and light weight, facilitating installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Large Free Volume and Surface Area: It has a high free volume (usually > 95%) and a large specific surface area, providing more contact opportunities between the gas and the wire mesh, thereby enhancing the separation efficiency.

Materials

  • Metal Materials: Such as stainless steel (like SUS304, 304L, 316, 316L), copper, brass, galvanized wire, nickel wire and other alloy wires. These endow the wire mesh demister with good corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and mechanical strength.
  • Non-metal Materials: Such as polypropylene (PP), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), etc. Non-metal wire mesh demisters offer advantages like corrosion resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and low cost.

Types

  • DSM - 80: Provides low pressure drop at high velocity and general collection efficiency, used for collecting larger particles.
  • DSM - 144: Mainly used in the petrochemical field, offering relatively low pressure drop and a collection efficiency of up to 90% - 99%.
  • DSM - 193: The most commonly used, providing a collection efficiency of up to 98% - 99% for 5 - 10 microns at a velocity of 1 - 5 m/sec.
  • DSM - 390: Provides high pressure drop at a low velocity of 1 m/sec and a collection efficiency of up to 90% or greater.
  • DSM - 220: Used for collecting minute particles sized 1 micron. Thicker is better in case of minute particles with low density (approximately 10 g/m³).
  • DSM - 432: Used for collecting sub - micron particles ranging from 0.05 - 1 micron, more effective than DSM - 220.

Applications

  • Chemical Industry: Widely applied in various chemical reaction towers, distillation towers, evaporators, etc., to separate the liquid droplets entrained in the gas, improve product quality and process efficiency, and reduce equipment corrosion.
  • Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry: Utilized in oil refining, gas separation, and other processes to remove liquid droplets in the gas, protect downstream equipment, and enhance the purity of products.
  • Power Generation Industry: In power plants, it is used to separate the moisture in the flue gas, reducing the corrosion of the flue gas on the equipment and improving the efficiency of the power generation system.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: In the production process of food and beverages, such as in distillation, fermentation, etc., it is employed to separate the liquid droplets in the gas to ensure product quality and meet hygienic and safety requirements.
  • Environmental Protection Industry: In waste gas treatment equipment, it is used to remove the mist and droplets in the waste gas to reduce air pollution and meet emission standards.
